THE RING AND THE DIAMOND

INTERCONNECTED FEATURES

[Ring And Diamond]   As with the area of the Tree, we are once again confronted by long, thin features. The bulge at the center of the Ring is overlaid by such features, and they radiate outward, extending over the lip of the Ring. The Ring is indicated by the red semi-circle. The lines are indicated in green.

A first impression of the Ring might be that it is a small crater, but the appearance is that of a convex feature encircled by an overhanging rim. The radiating lines simply add to the puzzle.

The Diamond (blue lines) is an obvious depression which is bounded by a raised rim. This in itself would be unusual, but the Diamond is overlaid by still more of the long, thin features, some of which appear suspended above the depression (yellow lines). Also of note is that the lower right portion of the rim actually appears to be a long thin feature raised above the surface. The shadow is indicated in red.
